I still can't believe you are gone; so many times I think about calling you and the pain hits when I realise you are not there. People can decide for themselves what we meant to each other or choose not to understand our little family. Back in the day I would meet you, with brother Steve, at Coseley, where we would watch the cricket, and then there were the evenings when you joined us for the speedway at Monmore Green. There we had the friendly banter with the Port Vale and Belle Vue aces supporter, with whom you became such good friends. I haven't donated directly, but have sponsored a guide dog named Lily instead. I think that you will approve. RIP. Keith Atkins

I had recently retired and I decided to purchase a Saddlers season ticket and attend the games. It was there that I met both Ken and his son Stuart. To be honest I felt a little nervous but Ken and his lad soon put me at ease. My friendship with Ken grew over time. He had a sharp wit and a keen, intelligent mind. Without fail he would regale us all with a joke which more often than not had us laughing out loud. Our conversations often spanned from World events to shocking Saddlers football to Cricket to the ups and downs of family life and Ken always had a reasoned opinion on those matters. Looking forward to match day was a highlight. Meeting up with Ken, Steve and others outside the main office. Handshakes all round followed by animated chat and laughter often led by Ken. He always asked after my family and how my boys were doing. That was Ken through and through. I am glad I was able to speak to him before he passed away. Though it was clear he was seriously ill his mind was not. It was a joy to hear his voice and It grieves me that I won't hear it again. I shall miss match days with Ken. I shall miss him moaning about the lukewarm pasties and pies. I shall miss his funny jokes. I shall miss the wit and common sense. I will miss his undoubted love of sport. I shall his love of life. But more than this I will desperately miss my old friend Ken. Sleep well and may God rest your Soul.

How do I sum up the best man at our wedding ? My dearly loved brother,Ken,was always a witty, caring ,loyal,compassionate ,competitive guy whose sense of "fair play " permeated from every pore in his body. A champion Table Tennis player,good all round sportsman and lifelong Walsall FC season ticket holder Ken was always the superb joke and storyteller entertaining family and even "the lads" ,pre-game, at the Banks's stadium on match days. His love of the Isle of Wight and his devotion to wife Sue and all his family was truly appreciated by everyone who knew him well. Plagued by ill health in the latter stages of his otherwise entertaining life ,Ken has been taken too early and we miss him so much. RIP Ken ...... Yvonne ,Dad and I loved you so much.xxxxxx brother Steve .

Ken you had so many amazing qualities, simply too many to list but ........ kind and caring, generous to a fault, the best sense of humour and my rock and my lifeboat. The saying goes the best go too soon and this is certainly the case with you, my darling Ken. You were a legend at table tennis but also a legend to everyone who met you.
